Electric Shaver RoHS Reporting Guidelines in China
I. Basic Understanding
Electric shavers are classified as household appliances. According to the "Regulations on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products," RoHS hazardous substance testing is required to ensure that the content of hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in the product meets the limits.
II. Testing Items
| Hazardous Substances | Limit Requirements
| Lead (Pb) | ≤1000ppm
| Mercury (Hg) | ≤1000ppm
| Cadmium (Cd) | ≤100ppm
| Hexavalent Chromium (Cr⁶⁺) | ≤1000ppm
| Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBs) | ≤1000ppm
| Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) | ≤1000ppm
In addition, attention should be paid to four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP) ≤1000ppm
III. Processing Procedure
1. Preliminary Preparation
Confirm product information (model, specifications, material list, BOM)
Prepare samples (usually 2-3 complete finished products)
Sort oversee product components and raw materials
2. Selecting a Testing Institution
Select an institution with CNAS or CMA accreditation Qualified Third-Party Testing Laboratory (DEZEW Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083)
Confirm whether the institution can issue a China RoHS test report.
Institutional qualifications can be checked through the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) website.
3. Sample Submission for Testing
Fill out the testing application form.
Send the sample to the laboratory.
The laboratory will disassemble, test, and analyze the sample.
4. Report Issuance
A Chinese test report will be issued after the test is passed.
The report includes the test items, limit requirements, test results, and judgment conclusions.
5. Information Disclosure (Important)
Complete the hazardous substance information disclosure for the entire product on the "China RoHS Public Service Platform".
Upload the test report and fill in the product information.
IV. Required Documents List
1. Product Manual
2. Component List (BOM)
3. Product Photos
4. Copy of Business License
5. Trademark Registration Certificate (if any)
6. Test Application Form
V. Processing Time and Fees
Testing Time: Usually 5-7 days One working day
Report Validity: It is recommended to update every 2 years.
Fee Range: Depending on the complexity of the product, the testing fee is generally around 800-3000 RMB.
VI. Special Notes
Certification Mode: China RoHS adopts a "testing + information disclosure" mode, which differs from EU CE-RoHS and does not require the issuance of a certificate.
Testing Method: Whole machine testing or testing of key components separately can be selected.
Subsequent Supervision: Market supervision departments will conduct random checks; it is essential to ensure that the actual product is consistent with the declared information.
Recommendation: Consider RoHS compliance requirements during the product design stage, select environmentally friendly materials, and avoid later rectification costs.
