Testing Overview

Classification criteria: If a product is intended for children under 14, or if its cartoon-like design is likely to appeal to young children, it will be classified as a "toy" and must comply with the EN71 standard. Items intended exclusively for adult collection or decoration may be regulated as general consumer goods under the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) and do not require EN71 certification.
Standard Test Package: Includes EN71-1 (Mechanical and Physical Properties), EN71-2 (Flammability), and EN71-3 (Migration of Certain Elements/Heavy Metals). Key assessments focus on small parts, sharp edges/corners, and heavy metal content in coatings. Additional testing for phthalates or REACH SVHC substances can be included. Please note that even if a product is labeled "14+," e-commerce platforms or customs authorities may still require EN71 compliance. Different materials and paint finishes must be evaluated separately; a single test report cannot cover multiple variations.
Required Documentation
Testing application form, product model number, Bill of Materials (BOM), actual product photographs, intended age range, and packaging warning labels.
