Obtaining a French DGCCRF Test Report for Kettle Inner Liners
Testing Overview
Kettle inner liners are typically made of 304 or 316 stainless steel, sometimes with an internal coating. Products exported to France must comply with French DGCCRF 2004-64 regulations and EU Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 regarding materials in contact with food. Testing involves simulating exposure to boiling water (100°C).
Standard Test Items:
1. Heavy metal migration: Testing for the migration of elements such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, cobalt, nickel, and chromium.
2. Overall migration testing.
3. Verification of base material composition (confirming the stainless steel grade).
4. Sensory testing (odor and taste).
If the liner features a spray-on or non-stick coating, additional tests for coating-related migration and residual solvents are required.
Required Documentation
You will need to provide a test request form, product photographs, and specifications for the inner liner material—including whether it has a coating and its intended operating temperature. Please also specify if an English-language report is required. Please submit complete, mass-produced kettle units. Samples with coatings and those without must be submitted separately; a single report cannot cover liners made of different materials.
The Process
1. Requirement confirmation: Identify the inner liner material and the presence of any coatings to determine the appropriate high-temperature simulation test protocol.
2. Submit documentation and send samples.
3. Laboratory receipt and registration: Conduct migration tests using food simulants under conditions replicating boiling water.
4. Laboratory analysis: Verify results against established migration limits.
5. Data review and internal laboratory audit.
6. Issuance of a CNAS-accredited DGCCRF report (if compliant). If the product fails, the inner liner material or surface treatment process may be adjusted, followed by retesting.
The standard turnaround time at Deesev is 5–7 business days; the timeline for retesting will be calculated separately.
Report Usage and Important Notes
This report is intended for use with French cross-border e-commerce platforms, customs inspections, and market surveillance checks. It can be accompanied by a Declaration of Compliance (DoC) for food-contact materials.
If there are any changes to the stainless steel grade, polishing process, or the formulation of the internal coating, new samples must be submitted for testing. The report is valid only for the specific samples submitted.
