EU REACH Testing Process and Key Points for Oxford Fabric 420D:
I. Preliminary Preparation
1. Confirming the Testing Scope
- Oxford fabric is a textile product and must be tested for the 250 Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) listed in the REACH Regulation, with a focus on heavy metals (lead, cadmium, chromium, etc.), phthalates, and formaldehyde.
- If the product contains coatings or dyes, additional testing for chemical residues (such as azo dyes and fluorescent brighteners) is required.
2. Preparing Materials
- Sample Requirements: Provide ≥ three 30×30cm Oxford fabric samples (different colors/coatings must be submitted separately).
- Documentation: Product ingredient list, supply chain information (dye/auxiliary supplier), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
II. Testing Process
1. Selecting a Certification Body
- Laboratories with CMA/CNAS accreditation are preferred (such as Dezewei Testing mentioned in the report).
2. Submission for Testing and Contract Signing
- Complete the testing application form, specifying the test items (default is 250 SVHCs).
- Sign the service agreement and pay the fee.
3. Laboratory Testing
- Turnaround: 5-7 business days (routine).
- Method:
- Heavy metal testing: X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF).
- Chemical analysis: Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
III. Reporting and Compliance
1. Obtaining the Report
- After passing the test, a REACH report in both Chinese and English will be issued, stating "Oxford fabric 420D material complies with the restrictions of EU REACH Annex XVII."
2. Notification Obligations (if applicable)
- If the content of a specific SVHC in Oxford fabric exceeds 0.1% and the annual export volume is ≥1 ton, a notification must be submitted to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency).
IV. Notes
1. Avoid Mixed Sample Testing
- Textiles must be tested separately and must not be mixed with other materials (such as metal accessories). Otherwise, the data will be invalid.
2. Amazon Platform Specific Requirements
- If you plan to list on Amazon, ensure that the report includes the product name, model, batch number, and laboratory accreditation mark (such as ISO 17025).
3. Report Validity
- REACH reports do not have a fixed validity period, but annual updates are recommended as new SVHC substances are added to the regulations.
