UL4200A Testing Process for Button Batteries in Children's Toys
I. Testing Process Steps
1. Application and Evaluation
- Submit an application form and provide product information (material, structure, battery specifications, usage scenarios, etc.).
- A third-party organization evaluates applicable standards (such as UL4200A-2023) and confirms test items (structure, abuse test, labeling, etc.).
2. Sample Preparation
- Provide at least 2 test samples (need to simulate actual use status and be sealed intact).
- Submit technical documents: battery installation location diagram, circuit diagram, instruction manual and warning design draft.
3. Laboratory Test
- Structural Test:
- Use IEC61032 probe 11 to check the battery compartment to ensure that it cannot be opened without tools or at least two independent actions.
- The tool must meet a minimum rotation angle of 0.5Nm or engage two complete threads to open.
- Abuse Test:
- Drop Test: 3 times for portable products and 10 times for handheld products (1 meter height, hard surface).
- Impact test: The housing/battery compartment withstands 3 times 2 impacts.
- Rolling test: 330N force is applied to the exposed surface for 10 seconds.
- Labels and warnings:
- The product body must be marked with a warning symbol (such as Figure7C.2), and the main display surface of the packaging must comply with the requirements of Figure7B.1/B.2.
4. Data analysis and report issuance
- After the test is passed, the laboratory will issue a UL4200A test report with CMA/CNAS certification.
- The report must include the test method, results and compliance conclusions.
2. Cycle and cost
- Cycle: about 5-7 working days
- Cost: about 1000-2000 yuan for a single test, depending on the complexity of the test item.
3. Recommended testing agency
- Dezewei Testing: Provides multi-material special testing and label compliance guidance, with transparent costs.
If you need a more detailed test plan or cost estimate, it is recommended to contact the laboratory directly for technical support.
