Metal EU Nickel Release Test Report, related information about Metal EU Nickel Release Test. The following is a detailed test report content:

I. Test Standards

The EU's test standards for nickel release are mainly based on EN 1811 and EN 12472. These standards apply to products that are in direct and long-term contact with the skin, such as jewelry, watches, glasses frames, mobile phones, etc.

1.1 EN 1811 Standard

- Scope of application: Products without electroplating coating.

- Test method: Place the test object in artificial sweat test solution for one week, and use atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy or other suitable analytical methods to test the concentration of nickel (Ni) dissolved in the solution.

- Limit requirement: The release of nickel shall not exceed 0.5 μg/cm²/week.

1.2 EN 12472 Standard

- Scope of application: Products with electroplating coating.

- Test method: Measure the release of nickel from electroplating coated objects after catalysis and wear.

- Limit requirement: The release of nickel shall not exceed 0.5 μg/cm²/week.

II. Testing process

1. Sample preparation: Randomly select samples from the products to be tested to ensure that the samples are representative.

2. Sample processing: According to EN 1811 or EN 12472 standards, place the samples in artificial sweat test solution.

3. Test analysis: Use atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy or other suitable analytical methods to test the concentration of nickel (Ni) dissolved in the solution.

4. Result determination: According to the test results, determine whether the release of nickel meets the EU standards.

III. Testing agency

- Third-party testing agency: Select a third-party testing agency with ISO 17025 accreditation to conduct testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results.

- Certification agency: Such as Shenzhen Dezewei Testing, etc., provide professional nickel release testing services.

IV. Test report content

- Product information: including product name, model, manufacturer information, etc.

- Test standard: clearly define the standard on which the test is based, such as EN 1811 or EN 12472.

- Test method: describe the test process and analytical method used in detail.

- Test results: list the specific values of nickel release and compare them with the limit requirements.

- Conclusion: determine whether the product meets the EU nickel release standard based on the test results.

V. Precautions

- Sample selection: ensure that the sample is representative and can reflect the overall quality of the product.

- Test cycle: according to the arrangement of the testing agency, it usually takes 1-2 weeks to complete the test.

- Report preservation: properly preserve the test report for subsequent use or review.

VI. Related regulations

- EU Nickel Control Directive 94/27/EC: used to control the use of nickel in products that have direct or prolonged contact with the skin.

- 2004/96/EC Directive: new standards for nickel release in skin piercing products, requiring that the nickel release should not exceed 0.2 μg/cm²/week.

Through the above testing processes and standards, the compliance and safety of metal products in the EU market can be ensured. I hope this information is helpful to you!
