GB 6675 Test Report for Plush Toys
Current Mandatory Standards: GB 6675.1–4:2014 "Safety of Toys." The new version, GB 6675–2025, will come into effect on November 1, 2026.
Plush toys are classified as soft-filled toys. For sales on domestic e-commerce platforms, in retail stores, or via live-streaming, a test report bearing CMA and CNAS accreditation seals is typically required (Dezewei Testing’s CNAS registration number: L8083). The report applies exclusively to the specific samples submitted for testing.
GB 6675 Full-Scope Testing (Standard Package for Plush Toys)
1. GB 6675.1–2014: Basic Specifications
Phthalates (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, DNOP), labeling and warning statements, age grading, and general safety requirements.
2. GB 6675.2–2014: Mechanical and Physical Properties (Critical for Plush Toys)
Small parts testing (essential for products intended for children under 36 months to prevent accidental ingestion/choking).
Tension testing: Eyes, noses, buttons, decorative elements, and seams (to ensure they do not detach).
Sharp edges and sharp points.
Entanglement risks from cords or ribbons (choking hazards).
Specific tests for soft-filled toys.
3. GB 6675.3–2014: Flammability
Combustion rate of textile fabrics; flame-retardancy testing for soft plush toys.
4. GB 6675.4–2014: Migration of Certain Elements (8 Heavy Metals)
Antimony (Sb), Arsenic (As), Barium (Ba), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), and Selenium (Se). Limits for Migratable Heavy Metals
Additional Optional Tests (Common for E-commerce/Infant & Toddler Products): GB 31701 (Textile Safety – covering formaldehyde and decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes) and fiber shedding rate (GB/T 9832).
Essential Elements of a Compliant GB 6675 Test Report
1. Laboratory accreditation marks: CMA and CNAS (CMA is a mandatory legal requirement for the domestic Chinese market).
2. Laboratory accreditation/qualification number (e.g., L8083).
3. Sample information: Product name, model, age group (0–36 months / over 3 years), and fabric/filling materials.
4. Testing standard: GB 6675.1–4-2014.
5. Complete list of test items, specified limits, actual test results, and final compliance conclusions.
6. Authorized signatory, report number, and official cross-page seals (stamps across the edges of the pages).
Reports lacking the CMA mark cannot be used for listing products on e-commerce platforms or for regulatory inspections.
Basic Information for Sample Submission
Sample quantity: Typically 3–4 finished plush toys.
Turnaround time: Standard 5–7 business days; expedited service is available.
Age grouping is critical: Products intended for children aged ≤36 months are subject to much stricter requirements, particularly regarding small parts and tensile strength.
Distinguishing by Intended Use
1. Domestic E-commerce/Retail: Requires a full set of GB 6675 tests and a report with CMA/CNAS accreditation. If the product falls under the CCC certification catalog (e.g., electronic/powered toys), a CCC certificate is also required. Standard, non-electronic plush toys do not require CCC certification.
2. Export: GB 6675 is a domestic Chinese standard. Exports to the EU require EN 71 compliance, while exports to the U.S. require compliance with CPSIA/CPC regulations.
Note: Updates in the new GB 6675-2025 standard (mandatory as of November 1, 2026) include new controls for chemicals such as formaldehyde, decomposable aromatic amines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), and total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). Safety requirements for cords and strings have also been upgraded. Future testing must comply with this new version.
