Metal Packaging GB4806 Testing Report Process
GB4806 testing for metal packaging (cans, aluminum foil containers, aluminum boxes, tin cans, etc.) is mainly based on GB 4806.9 "National Food Safety Standard - Metal Materials and Articles for Food Contact". The complete process is as follows:
I. Preliminary Preparation (1-2 days)
Confirm Product Scope: Determine the type of metal packaging material (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, tin-plated iron, chrome-plated iron, etc.) and its intended use.
Determine Testing Items:
Sensory Requirements (Appearance, Color, Odor)
Physical Indicators (Volume Deviation, Sealing Performance, etc.)
Chemical Indicators: Migration of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, antimony, and zinc (this is the core item)
Prepare Documents: Product manual, material composition table, company qualifications, etc.
II. Selecting a Testing Institution (1 day)
Confirm the institution's qualifications CMA and CNAS accredited (DEZEW Testing CNAS registration number: L8083), and with experience in testing food contact materials.
Priority will be given to laboratories with testing capabilities for metal packaging.
III. Application and Sample Submission (2-3 days)
Fill out the testing application form and provide product information.
Sample quantity: Typically 3-5 individually packaged samples per batch.
Samples must be finished products in complete packaging, simulating actual usage conditions.
Sign the testing contract and pay the fee.
IV. Testing Execution (5-7 working days)
The laboratory conducts testing according to GB 4806.9 and related supporting standards.
Main simulated solutions for testing: 4% acetic acid, 10% ethanol, vegetable oil, etc., corresponding to different food types.
Testing temperature and time simulate actual usage scenarios (e.g., boiling, room temperature, refrigeration, etc.).
V. Report Issuance and Collection (1-3 days)
Report issued upon completion of testing. CMA certification report includes:
Sample information, testing basis, testing items
Test data, result determination
Inspection conclusion (pass/fail)
Electronic version sent first, paper report can be mailed
Key reminders:
1. Expedited service: Generally available in 3-5 business days, additional fee applies.
2. Re-inspection mechanism: If there is any objection to the result, a re-inspection can be applied for within the specified time.
3. Report validity period: GB4806 test reports usually do not have a fixed validity period, but some platforms or clients require reports within 1 year.
4. Re-inspection requirements: If the product formula, process, or raw materials change, re-inspection is required.
