What certification is required for the export of electronic cigarettes?

1、 USA

According to the requirements of the US FDA, a market access application PMTA is required for ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery System) components and components (including electronic cigarette oil, glass and plastic containers containing electronic cigarette oil, cigarette bombs, atomizers, batteries, etc.).

Testing and certification requirements: FCC, UL-8139, safety performance, clinical data, toxicological data, HPHC, etc.


2、 EU

According to the requirements of the updated TPD (Tobacco Product Directive) Tobacco Product Directive 2014/40/EU issued by the European Union in April 2014, electronic cigarette products need to be announced and publicized 6 months before entering the market, with a nicotine content of less than 20 mg/ml.

Testing and certification requirements: smoke detection, CE-EMC, RoHS, REACH SVHC, tobacco MSDS, POPs, etc.

3、 Middle East (UAE)

According to the requirements of GSO 5030, ECAS registration is conducted, including four ECAS registrations for labels, cigarette oil/smoke bombs, RoHS, and electronic cigarette devices, with a nicotine content of less than 20 mg/ml.

Testing and certification requirements: RoHS, CB certification for smoking utensils and batteries, GSO ISO 8317 child protection, analysis of harmful substances in smoke and oil, etc.


4、 Korea

According to the requirements of the "Korean Tobacco Business Law", when using natural nicotine oil in electronic cigarettes, customs clearance is allowed if the nicotine content is less than 1% (equivalent to 10 mg/ml), and an individual consumption tax of 370 won is levied for each liter of nicotine solution. Tobacco oil that does not contain nicotine requires component testing and is taxed based on its composition.

5、 Japan

The sale of electronic cigarettes containing nicotine is not allowed, and the market is mainly for heating non burning tobacco products.

Testing and certification requirements: PSE for cigarette sets and batteries.


6、 UK

The requirements for participating in the EU need to be notified separately at MHRA.
