Application Process for GB4806 Report on Stainless Steel Cookware
Stainless steel cookware corresponds to GB 4806.9 "National Food Safety Standard - Metal Materials and Articles for Food Contact," which is one of the compliance requirements for products entering the Chinese market.
I. Required Documents
Product manual or specification sheet
Samples (usually 2-3 pieces)
Application form (provided by the laboratory)
Business license of the applying company
II. Testing Items
For stainless steel cookware, the main tests are:
Sensory requirements (appearance, odor)
Physicochemical indicators — migration of elements such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, chromium, and nickel
Specific migration amounts (such as nickel precipitation, a key focus for stainless steel)
III. Basic Process
| Steps | Content | Time
| 1 | Consult a third-party laboratory and obtain a quotation | days
| 2 | Mail samples and documents | 3-5 days
| 3 | Laboratory receives and tests | 5-7 working days
| 4 | Issue a GB4806.9 report after passing the test | 1-2 days
| 5 | Report delivery, which can be used for sales or platform auditing
IV. Precautions
Choose a laboratory with CMA/CNAS certification. Only reports from qualified laboratories have credibility (Dezewei Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083)
Samples are recommended to be finished products or components that will ultimately come into contact with food.
If the pot has composite components such as plastic handles or glass lids, the corresponding materials need to be tested separately (e.g., GB 4806.7 Plastics).
The report must indicate the corresponding national standard number for the product.
