EN71 Test Report Processing Procedure for Plush Toy Keychains
Plump toy keychains fall under the category of "Plump Toys/Soft Toys" within EN71 and require three core tests: EN 71-1 (Physical and Mechanical Properties), EN 71-2 (Flame Retardancy), and EN 71-3 (Chemical Migration).
I. Application Process
| Steps | Operation Content | Timeframe
| 1. Select an Institution | A third-party laboratory with CNAS/CMA accreditation and EU recognition (DEZEW Testing CNAS Registration No.: L8083)
| 2. Application | Fill out the authorization form and provide product information (brand, model, material, applicable age)
| 3. Sample Submission | Provide 5-8 finished product samples, preferably multiple colors and styles.
| 4. Testing | Test according to EN 71-1/2/3 sub-items
| 5. Certification | An English test report will be issued upon successful completion.
II. EN 71-1 Physical and Mechanical Testing (Focus on Plush Pendants)
Small Part Tensile Strength Test: Eyes, noses, buttons, and other accessories on the pendant must withstand a 70N tensile force. **Non-Falling Test (for children under 36 months)**
**Sharp Edge/Point Test:** Needles and decorative parts must not have accessible sharp edges.
**Torque Test:** Accessories must withstand torque without falling off.
**Seam Strength:** Tensile strength test of plush seams.
**Filling Safety:** Filling cotton must not be exposed to avoid suffocation risk.
III. **EN 71-2 Flame Retardancy Test**
**Burning Rate Test:** Flame spread speed of plush fabric ≤30mm/s.
Plush and hanging cords require special evaluation.
**Avoid using flammable decorations (e.g., some plastic pendants must meet flame retardancy standards)**
IV. **EN 71-3 Chemical Migration Test**
| Element | Limit (mg/kg)
| Lead (Pb), Antimony (Sb), Arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg) | Limits vary for different materials.
| Chromium (Cr), Barium (Ba), Selenium (Se), Boron (B), Copper (Cu), etc. | Refer to the attached standard table.
| Aluminum (Al), Zinc (Zn), Nickel (Ni), etc. | Performed by category
Note: Plush fabrics, printed patterns, plastic parts, and metal fasteners must be tested separately.
V. Special Notes for Plush Toys
Language/Strap Length: For toys designed for children under 36 months, the length of the lanyard should be less than 220mm to avoid tangling risks; if the length exceeds this, a warning instruction must be provided.
Filling: New materials or sterilized fibers should be used; avoid using recycled waste materials.
CE Marking: The product itself must have the CE marking and a Declaration of Conformity (DOC) to be sold in the EU.
EN71 reports are usually valid for 5 years, but retesting is required if the formula/process changes.
VI. Cost and Timeframe Reference
| Item | Reference Range
| Total Timeframe | 5-7 working days (expedited 3-5 working days available)
