Guidelines for Obtaining EU RoHS Reports for Desktop Vacuum Cleaners

Desktop vacuum cleaners fall under the "Small Household Appliances" category in the RoHS Directive, and RoHS testing is mandatory for export to the EU. The following is the application process:

I. Application Process

| Steps | Content | Explanation

| 1. Select a Testing Institution | Choose a third-party laboratory with CNAS/CMA accreditation or EU recognition | e.g., Dezewei Testing CNAS registration number: L8083

| 2. Submit an Application | Fill out the testing entrustment form, specifying product information | including brand, model, purpose, material, etc.

| 3. Send Samples | Provide samples of finished products or disassembled parts | Usually 1-3 finished products or disassembled key components are required.

| 4. Laboratory Testing | Test for 10 hazardous substances according to RoHS 2.0 standard | See "Testing Items" below for details

| 5. Issue a Report | A RoHS test report (English version) will be issued after the test is passed | The report is usually valid for 5 years and can be reused if the formula remains unchanged.

II. Testing Items (10 Restricted Substances)

Heavy Metals (4 items): Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr⁶⁺)

Flame retardants (2 items): PBB, PBDE

Phytaldehyde esters (4 items, added in 2015/863): DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP

Limit standards: Except for cadmium ≤100ppm, the other 9 items are ≤1000ppm

III. Key Components for Desktop Vacuum Cleaners

Due to the relatively simple structure of desktop vacuum cleaners, whole-machine testing or testing of key components can be performed. Commonly tested components include:

Shell (ABS/PP plastic parts)

Internal circuit board (PCB board and solder joints)

Power cord/connecting wire (cable insulation layer)

Motor assembly (metal parts plating)

Switch/button (including plastic and metal)

Battery assembly (if rechargeable)

Packaging materials (required in some cases)

It is recommended to disassemble the product in advance and check the types of materials so that the laboratory can determine the most economical disassembly plan.

IV. Processing Time and Fee Reference

| Item | Reference Data

| Testing Time | Usually 5-7 working days, expedited to 3 working days

| Fee Range | Approximately 800-2000 RMB per test point for the entire machine;

| Report Language | English (CE system requirements)

| Validity Period | 5 years (assuming product materials and manufacturing processes remain unchanged)

V. Preparatory Work Before Processing

1. Compile the Product BOM: Clearly list all components and their materials.

2. Collect Existing Certificates: If some components already have RoHS certificates, the testing workload can be reduced.

3. Prepare Samples: It is best to provide at least two finished machines for easy disassembly.

4. Clarify Brand Information: Trademark, model, manufacturer's name (Chinese and English)
