GB6675 Testing Procedure for Plush Toys
Applicable Clauses: GB6675.1: Safety Markings and Warnings; GB6675.2: Mechanical and Physical Properties (Sewing Strength, Small Parts, Cord Length, Sharp Edges); GB6675.3: Flammability (Burn Rate of Plush Fabric); GB6675.4: Chemical Migration (Heavy Metals, Azo Dyes, Phthalate)
Detailed Procedure:
1. Application and Document Preparation
Submit product instructions, fabric/filling composition table, trademark and packaging information.
Prepare samples. It is recommended to provide at least 3 independent samples for each test, with batch numbers for traceability.
Cross-border e-commerce companies also need to provide a declaration of their own brand or source of supply.
2. Sample Testing Stage
After receiving the samples, the laboratory will pre-treat them. For sewn plush pillows, the focus will be on testing zipper pull strength, button detachment, and decorative part pull-out strength.
Pluff fabrics will undergo a horizontal burning test. The burning rate requirement is ≤ 30. mm/s
Heavy metal migration testing (antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, selenium) is conducted on fabrics and fillings.
Additional testing for azo dyes and phthalates is performed on dyed patterns.
3. Labeling and Warning Review
Age warnings and plush toys must be labeled "Contains filling, keep away from open flame," etc.
Chinese label verification: Manufacturer's name, address, and applicable standard GB6675. Products intended for children under 36 months must include warnings such as "Contains small parts."
4. Report Issuance
Testing time is generally 5-7 working days.
Report content includes: test items, applicable standards, sample description, test methods, limit requirements, and conclusions.
A bilingual (Chinese/English) version is provided for cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Temu, and SHEIN.
5. Report Application and Filing
The report is uploaded to the e-commerce platform backend for category review.
It serves as compliance proof during random inspections by local market supervision departments.
It is recommended to retain the report for at least 5 days. For traceability purposes, please refer to the year of issue.
Important Note:
If the product contains a battery or sound module, a GB 19865 electrical safety test certificate must be provided simultaneously.
For cross-border e-commerce customs clearance in Europe and the United States, corresponding EN 71 and ASTM F963 reports are required to avoid duplicate sample submissions.
Testing can be conducted by CMA or CNAS accredited institutions, which are recognized by both domestic and international e-commerce platforms.
