Guidelines for Obtaining EU RoHS Reports for Electric Spray Guns

I. Do Electric Spray Guns Require RoHS Compliance?

Yes. Electric spray guns fall under the "Electrical and Electronic Tools" category of RoHS 3 (EU 2015/863). Whether sold to the EU as finished products or as components, they must comply with RoHS hazardous substance restrictions.

II. Application Process

Step 1: Select a Testing Institution

Choose a third-party laboratory with both CNAS and CMA accreditations, prioritizing:

DEZEW Testing CNAS Registration Number: L8083

It is recommended to choose an institution recognized by EU buyers to avoid report rejection.

Step 2: Complete the Application Form and Provide Product Information

Product Name, Model, Specifications

List of Homogeneous Materials for Each Component (Plastic Shell, Metal Parts, Solder Joints, Motor Enameled Wire, PCB Board, Coating, Power Cord, etc.)

BOM List (Specify Material Types)

Step 3: Sample Disassembly and Submission

The laboratory will disassemble the BOM and select key homogeneous materials for testing. Typically, the following are required:

1-2 complete units

Samples of key components (Metal Parts, Plastic Parts, Solder, Power Cord, etc.)

If the product material is simple or the batch is small, complete unit disassembly can be submitted directly.

Step 4: Laboratory Testing

Testing Items (10 Limit Requirements):

| Substance | Limit

| Lead (Pb) | ≤ 1000 ppm

| Cadmium (Cd) | ≤ 100 ppm

| Mercury (Hg) | ≤ 1000 ppm

| Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI) | ≤ 1000 ppm

| PBB / PBDE | ≤ 1000 ppm

| DEHP / BBP / DBP / DIBP | ≤ 1000 ppm each

Step 5: Issuance of Report

Test Passed → RoHS Compliance Test Report Issued

Failed → Laboratory provides a list of substances exceeding the standard; the company needs to replace the materials and retest.

III. Fees and Timeframe Reference

| Item | Reference Data

| Reporting Timeframe | 5-7 working days (2-3 days for expedited service)

| Report Fee | 1000 ~ 3000 RMB (depending on material complexity)

| Report Validity | Valid indefinitely (retesting required for material/process changes)

IV. Key Points for Processing

1. Homogeneous materials are key: RoHS testing is based on homogeneous materials; each screw and weld joint is considered an independent unit. The more homogeneous the material, the fewer testing points and the lower the cost.

2. Power cords and motors are high-risk areas: Phthalate and heavy metal levels are prone to exceedances in power cord sheaths, PVC materials, and enameled wire coatings. It is recommended to request material compliance declarations from suppliers during procurement.

3. Report template suggestions: If the customer has a specified format (e.g., with CE logo, EU buyer number), this must be communicated to the laboratory in advance.

4. Integrated CE-RoHS processing: Electric spray guns exported to the EU usually require CE certification (LVD+EMC+RoHS). This can be packaged and handled by the same agency to save costs.

Practical advice: If your company has stable export customers, it is recommended to directly contact the buyers to obtain their list of accredited laboratories to avoid duplicate testing due to unacceptable reports.
