Magnetic Track Train Toy EN71 Certification Report
1、 Overview of EN71 standard
EN71 is a mandatory standard for toy safety in the EU market, officially known as the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This standard series covers multiple dimensions of physical and mechanical properties, combustion performance, chemical safety, etc. of toys, and is a necessary entry condition for entering the EU market.
2、 Core testing items for magnetic track train toys
Magnetic track train toys usually need to pass the following main tests:
1. EN71-1 Physical and mechanical properties
Structural integrity: the firmness of track joints and the anti drop performance of train bodies
Small parts testing: prevent children under 3 years old from accidentally swallowing track accessories, wheelsets, and other small parts
Sharp edges/tips: metal track cutting surface, edge treatment of motor housing
Magnet safety: If magnet components are present, the magnetic strength and risk of detachment should be evaluated to prevent children from ingesting them
Electrical safety: sealing of battery compartment, risk of exposed circuit board
2. EN71-2 Combustion Performance
Flame retardant level testing of toy materials
Assessment of Burning Rate of Plastic Parts on Tracks and Train Shells
3. EN71-3 Specific Element Migration
Detection of leaching amounts of heavy metals such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), and barium (Ba)
Suitable for metal track coatings, plastic coloring agents and other materials
3、 Certification process
Sample preparation → Application submission → Laboratory testing → Report issuance → Certificate issuance
|Stage | Content | Cycle
|Laboratory testing | Testing according to EN71 standards | 5-7 working days
|Report issuance | Preparation of testing report
|Certificate issuance | EU notified body issues CE conformity declaration
4、 Key precautions
1. Age classification: If the product labeling is applicable to children under 3 years old, additional attention should be paid to strict testing of small parts and magnetic components
2. Battery power supply requirements: Must comply with the supplementary requirements of IEC 62115 (Safety of Electric Toys)
3. Identification requirements: Manufacturer information, CE mark, and age warning symbol must be marked
4. Supply chain control: Ensure that suppliers of raw materials (plastic particles, metal parts) provide compliance certificates
