Date:2025-04-21 10:45:50 Classification :【question】 Visits:756
Before plush toys are sold in the Canadian market, they need to go through the SOR/2011-17 testing process to ensure that they meet Canadian toy safety standards. The following are the details of the SOR/2011-17 test for plush toys:

I. Test items

1. Physical and mechanical properties

- Check whether the structure and components of plush toys are stable and not easy to fall or form small parts to avoid accidental ingestion by infants and young children.

- The edges and corners of the toy should be rounded to prevent scratches or punctures on infants and young children.

2. Flame retardancy

- The surface material of plush toys should have a certain flame retardancy to prevent burning.

3. Chemical properties

- Check whether all materials and coatings used in the manufacturing process of plush toys contain chemicals that are harmful to the human body, especially heavy metals.

4. Accessibility

- For plush toys that can be put into the mouth, accessibility tests should be conducted to evaluate the safety of the toys in the mouth.

5. Noise

- There are certain requirements for the noise generated by plush toys to avoid hearing damage to infants and young children.

II. Testing process

1. Provide sample pictures

- Manufacturers or importers need to provide sample pictures of plush toys.

2. Confirm testing standards and regulations

- Confirm the testing standards and regulations that plush toys need to comply with, namely SOR/2011-17.

3. Provide physical sample testing

- Provide physical samples for testing.

4. Pay the testing fee

- Pay the corresponding testing fee.

5. Test samples

- The certification body tests the samples and issues a test report after the test is qualified.

6. Failure to test

- If the test is unqualified, the sample needs to be resubmitted for testing.

III. Certification body

- Manufacturers or importers need to choose a certification body that is officially recognized by Canada and has relevant qualifications for testing. These certification bodies will be responsible for subsequent testing and evaluation.

IV. Test Report and Certificate

- If the stuffed toy passes all the test items, the certification body will issue a test report and certificate that complies with the SOR/2011-17 standard. This report and certificate will prove that the stuffed toy has passed the Canadian toy safety standard test and can be legally sold in the Canadian market.

By following the requirements of SOR/2011-17 Toy Regulations, manufacturers or importers can ensure that their stuffed toys comply with Canadian toy safety standards and provide safe and reliable toy products for children.
